Spring Cleaning

Happy March!

As Spring Cleaning approaches, I would like to suggest some tips I learned over the years that helps me be time efficient and have the ability to declutter.

For my people who hate to clean, lack the motivation, or are super busy, try the reward system. It could look something like, “If I get through my living room, I will treat myself to Starbucks.” Another motivator is my classic kitchen timer trick. Get yourself a kitchen timer that ticks (timer link) - this one is only $5 on Amazon. Turn your timer on for twenty-thirty minutes, or however much time you have, and try to race the clock to get your task(s) done before the timer goes off. The ticking really can trick your brain into doing things quicker and access the dopamine hit when you complete said task.

For my peeps who don’t even know where to start try this method: grab four bags and one will be garbage, one will be donate, one will be put away, and the one will be for storage. Go through each room with this system to decrease that overwhelm. And don’t be afraid to do a little bit each day. Some is better than none, progress over that perfection mindset.

Get your kids involved! Have them go through the rainbow and select each item that is red and put it away and then orange, and then yellow and so on. Make it fun and engaging.

I have some more tips up my sleeve, reach out for some more ideas or time-related advice!

Happy Cleaning :)
